This exhibit is the entrance to the World War I Gallery. It highlights significant events during the war. Includes a docent video presentation.
Marines Mobilize for War
This exhibit highlights the events that led to the start of WWI, and talks about the Marines mobilization efforts. Includes a video presentation.
Belleau Wood
This exhibit tells the story of Belleau Wood, one of the most famous Marine battles. It includes a highlight video from the Belleau Wood immersion exhibit.
Combat Correspondents
This exhibit introduces the work of the combat correspondent during war. Includes an audio presentation on Combat Correspondent Floyd Gibbons.
Tin Lizzy
This exhibit features a model of the Tin Lizzy, and discusses the methods used to create the life-like mannequins throughout the museum.
Poison Gas
This exhibit highlights the devastating effects of checmical warfare during WWI, and displays the equipment Marines used to protect against poison gas.
Field Training
On display in this exhibit are the various firearms used by Marines and their enemies during World War I. There are several Oral Histories available that describe fighting in WWI.
Breaching the Hindenburg Line
This exhibit describes the allies attempts to breach the Hindenburg Line. It includes a video presentation that highlights the artillery tactic known as a "Rolling Barrage".
Marine Aviation in France
This exhibit highlights the growing use of aircraft during WWI. Features a Thomas Morse S4B aircraft suspended above the exhibit.
Standard B Liberty Truck
This display features a Standard B Liberty Truck and highlights its use during WWI. Includes a docent video presentation describing specifics about the Liberty truck.
Birth of the Modern Marines
At the close of the WWI gallery, this exhibit describes how the Marine Corps transitioned into a Modern fighting force.
